Kaleidoscope

October 10, 2025

A Kaleidoscope is a toy that has multiple mirrors on one side and reflects different colors that move and reflect images that change, when the tube on the other end is turned. What a person sees with the changing colors and images is subjective.

Life is like a Kaleidoscope. What we see changes and evolves. How we view different situations in our lives is subjective also. Like the Kaleidoscope, some of the images can be looked at as beautiful, and some, just weird. But how we categorize the images is based on how we look at them.

The “images” in life can be viewed as beautiful, enjoyable, and worth living. They can also be seen as hard, full of challenges, and downright miserable. Our “image” of life is our choice. Truthfully, this life’s journey can include a mixture of positive and negative views of these “images.”

In Philippians 4:11, Paul talks about how he has learned to be content in every circumstance. He goes into detail in verses 12-13. How we apply Paul’s stance to the kaleidoscope of life is up to us. But the first step may include adopting this frame of mind.

I have little, I’m content. I have overflow, content. Facing hard times, choosing to be content. Walking on a hill and not through a valley, still content.

Why would we be content through different circumstances and changes? Because God never changes. He is the constant stable, grounding, loving God through this kaleidoscope-like life. That alone provides a foundation for contentment. Our God is the one person who will always be by our side. He is our number one fan. He is the one who uplifts, stabilizes, and carries us through every circumstance, good or bad. No matter what life “image” is in front of us right now, we can choose contentment like Paul.

So let life continue to evolve and change like the images from the kaleidoscope. Since we are rooted and grounded in Christ (Ephesians 3:17), who is love (1 John 4:8), contentment is always available to us.

God bless you.
