You can hear some of the greatest testimonies of what God has done while sitting in a beauty salon or barber’s chair. Hair professionals are often unseen evangelists and counselors.
One stylist, Yolanda P. of New Jersey, had a client who worked in a department store. While at work, the client received a frantic call from her daughter, a college student over 1,000 miles away. The college had miscalculated the student’s expenses and demanded $5,000 immediately or she would have to leave. It was the college’s mistake, but they still refused a payment plan. The family simply didn’t have the money.
The mother tried to finish her shift quickly so she could go home and figure things out. As the store was closing, a last-minute customer rushed in. The mother agreed to help her and, while ringing her up, began explaining her situation and why she was in such a hurry. She had not yet made it to her prayer closet, but God had already heard her cry.
God promised: “They will not labor in vain, nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them. Before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear” (Isaiah 65:23–24).
God’s promises MUST come true—if we do not give up. It may seem easier to walk away, compromise, or settle for less than what God has for us. Don’t do it. Stand on God’s Word, no matter how long it takes or how tough it gets. God’s Word is true—everything else is a lie.
As the mother vented, the customer was stunned. She said she had “just happened” to be visiting that city and “just happened” to stop in at the last minute. She was the financial director at the daughter’s college. She promised to handle it when she returned, immediately put a hold on the bill, and in the end the daughter was released from the debt and even received a refund. Things do not “just happen”—God happens.
From the college, to the department store, to the beauty/barber shop, and now to your heart, God wants to live in our everyday experiences. Trust His promises—regardless. Not everything will be a “suddenly,” but whether “suddenly” or “eventually,” God will take care of us and our families. Exhale. He promised, and He will deliver.
