Blind faith is often about promoting and living in your own strength. The God-kind of faith is rooted in God’s Word, promises, and will. It’s about trusting God even when your mind screams, “This doesn’t make sense!” It challenges your ego and way of thinking, but it’s where God’s power is revealed.
Years ago, a family faced a seemingly impossible problem: no money to send their academically gifted son to Tuskegee University. Despite his straight A’s, ROTC involvement, and community contributions, there was no scholarship, no financial aid. Their son’s future hung in the balance. But they prayed, and God provided a strategy that defied logic. This is what happened.
The mother went to the local air force base, acting as a cleaning woman. She worked her way through some hallways and offices dusting until she reached the highest-ranking general’s office. There, she put her cleaning “rag” on her hip, straightened up, and told the secretary she wanted to see the general. This was highly unusual and risky. Yet this mother was determined it was God’s will. In her mind’s eye, she did not see the secretary at the desk, she saw her son at Tuskegee! The secretary could not intimidate that mother, and finally went in and told the general what was happening. The general replied, “Send her in,” probably wondering who would dare be so bold.
The general, intrigued by her audacity and conviction, listened to her story. He was moved by her son’s qualifications and her unwavering faith. The result? The mother left with a promise of a call to Tuskegee. Her son was admitted and not only graduated with honors but became a Tuskegee Airman, served his country bravely, founded an organization helping others achieve their goals, and lives a life dedicated to God. Her faith—a faith that didn’t make sense—led to an extraordinary outcome.
Hebrews 11:1 reminds us, “Now, faith is…” Faith is now—not yesterday, not tomorrow, but NOW! What is your faith story? What impossible dream is God telling you to pursue? Just like Jairus, whose daughter was dying, Jesus might say to you, “Don’t be afraid, just believe” (Mark 5:36). Your God-promise is waiting, and it probably will not make sense!
God bless you!
